Late 1999 found us busily remodeling. The old lanais were taken out, a slab poured and tile (16") laid to match the- new interior tile (that too was a major job - removing old tile, etc). We tore out the old master bath, enlarged it and now the "Master suite" sports a glass block and tile oversized walk-in shower, new closet, vanity, mirrors, fixtures and furniture. During this remodel we also updated furniture and added 3" Plantation shutters and 4 new ceiling fans to insure tropical breezes move throughout the condo.New furniture, paint, washer/dryer, lighting... we don't want to leave! If you're interested, there are lots more before and after photos in the alblum (under LR TV)

Welcome to building 20

Views of lush grass, tropical plants and even the ocean now greet you as you walk in thanks to the new window in the dining room. Would you believe a solid wall hid this view?

DISCLAIMER :-) It is possible the sqare footage on the floor plan includes the lanais (about 205 sf)

Of course, once you fix up one space, you realize others can use help too. This is obviously an on going project. Recently we completely built the guest room closet to create more hanging and shelf space for those times when we have 6 in the condo. We had already put in new fixtures (lighting as well as plumbing). Besides adding art and kitchen supplies, other things we have done recently include:

View across old master bedroom lanai

Same view - new lanai

The 2nd bedroom suite has the largest lanai. Besides the warm yellow accent color, new carpet and that wonderful tile, the bath has new fixtures.

  • Replaced new bedroom carpets with a soft island green. (I actually like this better)
  • Purchased a 2nd recliner for the living room (Frank and I kept fighting over the other one)
  • Purchased a new air conditioner for the guest bedroom
  • Replaced sliding screen doors in DR and both BRs with lockable versions.
  • Purchased an old wooden bar and converted it to a computer desk with storage. (Explore the nooks and cranies of this piece, it's a gem)

We actually have several other projects in mind and invite our guests to put their thoughts in an email to Bonnie or jot them down in the guest book. To see what the place looks like today, visit my New Photos page.

Until then, picture yourself relaxing in the privacy of your outdoor living room; listening to the ocean waves breaking on the beach while conversing with the island's friendly and colorful birds.

This Bougainvillea covered lanai is a favorite spot for most guests. It wraps around the living and dining rooms. The gas grill is here (we eat most meals outside) but cooks are often distracted by the boats speeding by or
(if you're lucky) by a spectacular breaching whale. This lanai is one of Frank's favorite spots to read so he puts the chaise lounge here - then I take it back to the master bedroom lanai for some quiet sun time.
