Maui’s Family-Friendly Attractions: Fun for All Ages

Posted on: October 5, 2023

If you’re looking into planning a family getaway full of unforgettable adventures, Maui is the place to be. Not only is the island breathtakingly beautiful, but there are attractions that cater to visitors of all ages, including your little ones. The team at Wailea Ekahi Village Resort is here to give you our top recommendations for family-friendly activities in Maui, so you can have a memorable and adventure-filled experience.

Hit the Beach

This one is a no-brainer, but it’s worth mentioning. Maui is home to countless family-friendly beaches, featuring calm and shallow waters perfect for toddlers. The key is to do your research beforehand and find the right beach if you want to avoid the large waves—perfect for our surfer enthusiasts. One great spot is Pu’unoa Beach, also called “Baby Beach,” which offers shallow water perfect for little ones. Another great option is Kapalua Bay, which isn’t quite as wave-free as Baby Beach, but it does have a very calm swimming environment.

Swim with Sea Turtles

If your kids are animal lovers, an opportunity to swim with sea turtles is a dream come true! Turtle Arches is the perfect spot for your family to safely snorkel and experience the wildlife of Maui. This location features deepwater lava arch formations, and the snorkeling experts will guide you to the best spots where turtles are frequently sighted. Visit ActivityMaui to book this fun-filled tour (bonus: four-year-olds and under get in for free)!

Experience Upcountry Maui

Take a break from the beach and enjoy the vibrant agricultural community. Your family will love learning where and how Maui produce is grown, plus you’ll likely get the chance to try the delicious, farm-fresh snacks! You can also choose a coffee tour where you’ll learn how a coffee seed is grown, harvested, and roasted. Maui is also home to one of Hawaii’s two pineapple plantations, and you’ll be sure to leave with plenty of samples if you choose to go on a pineapple tour.

Go to a Luau

There’s nothing that says Hawaii like going to a luau! The Grand Wailea Luau is fun for all ages, featuring costumes, music, and dances for a night of fun entertainment. Enjoy delicious food and experience the music and dances of the Pacific Islands. While the kids would have a blast, this is also a great option if you want to get away on a date night while in Maui.

Standup Paddle Boarding

The paddleboarding school in Kihei is great for beginners of all ages, and they’ll provide everything you need to stand up paddle in one easy lesson! This is a great option if you have active kids who love to learn. There are private lessons available, but group or semi-private lessons are perfect for your family outing.
