If you are planning a vacation to Maui, you will more than likely want to rent a car. While Uber and Lyft are now on island, there are a few day trips worth having a car for, even if you don’t have one for your entire trip. Not too mention if you are staying in condo or home, you’ll want to get groceries as well.
If you are staying on South Maui, some of the road trips to consider are the La Perouse Bay, Road to Hana (plan for an entire day), Upcountry, Haleakala (but you need to get your sunrise access pass early from the National Parks) Kapalua and Lahaina. There are some fun cars you can rent for these trips, depending on which ones you plan. Many people go for the Jeep, while some opt for cruising around in a luxury convertible.
Whatever your preference, we’ve found the best car rental service to fit your needs while on Maui. We’ve done business with many car rental companies on island and from price to service, our choice is Avis. Avis offers the option of airport pick up or local pick up in Kihei (this saves a few dollars on the airport service fee, but you’ll need to get to this location). With a large fleet, convenient service, competitive pricing and alliances with many airlines frequent flyer clubs, this international company is the best car rental deal on Maui we could find.
