Hotel Tax (TAT) to increase January 1, 2018

Posted on: September 29, 2017

We always want to make our guests aware of changes to fees, taxes, policies, etc. Effective January 1, 2018, the Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT or Hotel Tax) will increase by 1% – from 9.25% to 10.25%. This increase will be used to pay for a new monorail line in Honolulu connecting to the airport.

The TAT is levied upon every operator and plan manager on the gross rental or gross rental proceeds from furnishing transient accommodations (hotels and lodging). This fee has always been a part of the required taxes we must charge as part of our rates. Please be aware that this portion will increase by 1% if you are staying with us on or after January 1, 2018. The total tax (TAT & GET) for all stays beginning January 1, 2018 will now be 14.4167%.

If you have any questions regarding this increase, you can contact the Department of Taxation Technical Section at (808) 587-1577 or by email at [email protected].

We look forward to serving you at our Maui condos again soon!
