1. The Shops at Wailea

Stop by the Shops at Wailea every Tuesday and Thursday to enjoy live music and the beautiful dances of Polynesia right in the performance area. This is a great opportunity to not only watch the graceful Hawaiian hula but also to get some shopping done as well.

2. Maui Friday Town Parties

We can’t think of anything better than a free party every Friday night. Sponsored by Maui County, you can enjoy live music, arts and crafts, cultural activities and more. Each Friday, a different town across the island hosts the party so be sure to check the website for details.

3. Hiking

Maui is home to some of the most beautiful trails in all of Hawaii. With various difficulties, views and lengths, there is a trail for everyone. Most hikes around the island are free but there may be a small fee for those located within state parks.

4. Outlets of Maui

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to play the ukulele, you’re in luck! The Outlets of Maui alongside the Maui Music Mission offer free lessons for first-timers.

5. Wailea Golf Club

If you feel like hitting the links be sure to stop by Wailea Golf Club. After 3 p.m., kids play free! With gorgeous views of the coast and lush tropical landscaping, it’s the perfect place to soak in Maui.

6. Ho’okipa Beach Park

With no fees to park or enter the beach area, Ho’okipa Beach Park is a great spot to relax on the beach and watch the waves. Famous for being a spot for windsurfers and surfers alike, there is plenty of action to watch while you soak in the sun.

7. Whale Watching

Although you can pay for tours out on the water, did you know you can see whales right from the beach? Grab some binoculars and head to the shoreline to see these gorgeous creatures as they play in the warm waters of Maui. Wailea, Kaanapali, and McGregor Point lookout are awesome places to spot the whales from the shore. If you decide you would rather get up close and personal with the whales, check out these tours.

8. Sunrise

If you’re an early riser, you can’t miss the Maui sunrise. Koki Beach Park is a great spot to view the gorgeous golden colors of the sun coming over the horizon.

10. Beach

It goes without saying that hanging out on the beach is one of the best free things to do in all of Maui. Whether you’re looking for something exotic like black sand or you want something a little more child-oriented, there is a perfect beach nearby just waiting for you.
